Mama Marino's

Restaurant: Mamma_Martinos Toronto

Nelson @ Mama Martino's: Even though I'm not a huge fan of this place, it is cheap and tastes like homemade Italian. The included garlic bread is really tasty, especially when you are hungry. They have that on the menu for $1.50, but I guess they include it as part of the standard meal now.

We started with a Caprese Salad of sliced tomatoes with sliced Bocconcinni cheese, onions and olive oil. This is a classic Italian dish, and the contrasting tastes complement each other well. The tomato is tart, fresh and crunchy, the onion is acidic with a sharp taste, while the cheese is soft and fatty. The olive oil holds everything together. Maybe I'll try making this, it looks easy to make.

Kitty had the Cheese Canelloni. Not much to say here as usual and she didn't finish it (as usual).

I had the Veal Parmigiana because it the special of the day. It was tasty, but nothing spetacular. I think I'll opt for the spaghetti on the side next time, but I was trying to eat healthy that day.

  • Kitty loves canelloni! I think we should add 2 more honourary people to our "about" page because we'll always put Mike and Kitty's meals on here too.
