Good night, Olive Garden

Restaurant: Olive_Garden Sandusky

dre: After a long day at Cedar Point, we arrived at Olive Garden (for once it wasn't chosen by Mike or me but by someone else in our group). The restaurant closed at 10pm, and we got there around 9:45pm. The manager let us stay and said it was no problem to have us there. I think they couldn't turn away business for a party of 8.

Mike tried the Chicken and Gnocchi Veronese - Sautéed chicken with traditional Italian dumplings and roasted red peppers in a Parmesan and ricotta cheese sauce. The gnocchi was grossly chewy and the whole dish just wasn't very good.

After my last couple of disappointing meals at Olive Garden, I decided to eat the Tour of Italy, which I thought would be impossible to screw up. Boy, was I wrong. The Tour of Italy is their classic and I remember getting it as a kid. It had chicken parmigiana, fettuccine Alfredo and homemade lasagna, 3 things that I really like. The chicken tasted like rubber, and the fettuccine Alfredo was gross and the lasagna just wasn't satisfying. I was very disappointed. Perhaps because it was late in the night and we were their last customers I could give them some slack for that. Needless to say, I don't think I'll will be suggesting this restaurant anytime in the future.

  • The Gnocchi looks good in the picture. The Tour doesn't look that good though. I could hardly tell which was the lasagna and which was the chicken. So I'm not sure whether to go here next time I'm in the US...
