dre: We saw an Olive Garden across from the mall we were shopping at and decided to return there for dinner. I feel like I've tried everything there chicken or beef related, so I decided on the Shrimp & Asparagus Risotto - Large sautéed shrimp served over creamy parmesan risotto with asparagus. If you go to the website, the picture there actually looks better than what I have here. The risotto was too liquidy and the dish was too salty in general. I'm not a big fan of asparagus, and this dish didn't make me like it more.

For some reason, I cannot find the description to Mike's dish online. It looks like a gnocchi with beef. I remember it was very filling and once again, we ate too much soup and salad before the mains came.

edit: The above dish is the Braised Beef and Tortelloni - tender sliced short ribs and portobello mushrooms tossed with asiago-filled tortelloni in a basil-marsala sauce. I need to take a course on identifying pastas by their correct name.

  • The dish below looks like tortelloni -- like a larger version of tortellini. And both of the dishes look pretty unappetising. I never understood your fixation with Olive Garden. It's like the Manchu Wok of Italian food.

  • Yeah, I was going to say that it's probably tortellini. I haven't been to Olive Garden in over 15 years, so I will probably try it to see what all the fuss is about.

  • Mike likes it, so we go. I think he just really enjoys the unlimited soup and salad. I'm starting to like Cheesecake Factory more, but only for the cheesecakes. I would like to go to Olive Garden one more time and eat the Tour de Italy though.
