The Captain's Boil

Restaurant: The_Captains_Boil Toronto

Nelson @thecaptainsboil: Captain's Boil serves their seafood in plastic bags. Sound unappetizing, but that's the style of these seafood boil places. Step one is choose your seafood, step 2 is choose your sauce, step 3 is choose the spice level. I opted for the Captain's boil flavor which is a mix of the other three: cajun, lemon pepper and garlic. It is very very very flavourful. Lot's of breath destroying garlic and lots of spice too. I couldn't taste the lemon pepper as much though. Kitty picked the mild spice level which was actually slightly sweet. I picked medium, but I could have gone spicier. I really liked the flavour and it went really well with the seafood. What is pictured is just some limes and salt/pepper they give you at the beginning of the meal.
These pictures are going to suck. The food comes in a plastic bag and there is no way to make that photogenic. That and it is such a mess to eat, but at the same time really satisfying. Kitty ordered the clams ($12.95).
We ordered some okra in garlic sauce for some veggies ($5.95). The amount of garlic was incredible, to the point it overpowered the already strong okra flavours. Wow.
I tried the snow crab legs (18.95). I almost wanted to drink the sauce.
To complement the seafood we had sweet potato and regular fries. They were excellent with the seafood. It soaked up the spiciness and was a good contrast to the flavourful seafood.

The restaurant was full of Asian people and I'm not sure if that was because of the area we were in or because of the food. The wait staff was mixed race though. I would come back again, I had a good time!
