Cocina Economica

Restaurant: Cocina_Economica Toronto

dre: On the east end of downtown, there is a Mexican restaurant called Cocina Economica. It is part of the Playa Cabana family. It's located on Berkeley St. just south of Queen and east of Sherbourne. They gave us some nacho chips to start with some spicy sauces.
My coworker got the Tinga Tostada ($13) - roasted chicken with braised chipotle onions on a baked tostada with guacamole and pinto beans.
Another coworker got the cerviche ($11). It is listed as an appetizer, but it was really big!
I ordered the Carnitas ($16) - Slow cooked pork belly and baby back ribs. It comes with corn tortillas so that I made multiple wraps. The meat was tasty and not dry.
A couple coworkers ordered this Café de Olla ($3) - Fresh grounded Mexican coffee beans brewed in a clay pot with canela (Mexican cinnamon bark) and piloncillo (organic natural and unrefined while cane sugar)
The place is located in a little house, so it is very small and doesn't have a lot of tables. There is a patio for sunny days outside. The service and food prep is quite slow, so don't be in a rush if you want to try the food out!
