Road Trip Begins!
dre: The food from my trip is posted completely out of order, but that probably only bothers me. Chronologically, we had to drive to Florida first before going on the cruise, so here starts the pictures from the "land" part of the trip!
Our day started really early, when we left home at 5:40am. We drove all day, only stopping for washroom and stretch breaks along the i-75. We didn't even stop for lunch, but just snacked in the car, because we didn't want to arrive at the hotel too late, as we knew it would be a 12-hour drive before we stopped. We drove through south western Ontario (flat), crossed the border at Detroit and drove through Michigan (flat), Ohio (flat), Kentucky (much prettier, rolling hills), and Tennessee (rolling hills). The only major city we actually went through was Cincinnati, which looked like a fun place to visit one day. We stopped in Knoxville, Tennessee to stay at a hotel, and deserved a great meal after a long day of travelling.
We found this place close to our hotel called Carrabba's Italian Grill. We were told the wait may be over 45 minutes, but we waited anyway. Thankfully, something must have cleared up or we jumped the line, but we were seated within 10 minutes.
Here is the bread to start.
Mike got a soup - Sausage and Lentil.
The girls shared a cavatappi pasta with marinara sauce. I always worry that restaurant tomato sauces are too sour, but this one was not tart.
I ordered a 3-topping pizza with sausage, mushroom, and bacon. It was large and tasty.
Mike ordered a Fettuccine Carrabba - Fettuccine Alfredo with wood-grilled chicken, sautéed mushrooms and peas. The pasta was really fresh, and Mike really enjoyed the dish. He thinks it's the best meal of the trip for him. I beg to differ as we had lots of great food. But the restaurant was really efficient and we were finished eating within an hour.
