Nelson @pokitime1: Poke is a food trend from Hawaii that is going around. We went to this place in San Francisco called Poki Time. Poke is diced sashimi served with rice/salad.
There setup is like Chipotle. You pick a base first: white rice, brown rice, mixed greens, kale or half & half. Then your fish: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crab meat. Then sauce: sesame shoyu, spicy mayo, ponzu, wasabi. Then your toppings, whihc include green onions, red onoions, cucumber, corn, edamae, seaweed salad, masago, ginger, wasabi, carroy, Jalapeno, tofu (avocado is extra $1).
I went for the 3 scoops of fish ($11.95). I picked salmon, brown rice, shoyu and pretty much all the toppings. It makes for a very colourful picture. It tastes as good as it looks. The raw fish is very enjoyable to eat in this way and all the toppings make each bite unique.
Kitty got 2 scoops, tuna. She picked slightly different ingredients and hers tasted different from mine. Both bowls were delicious.
Delicious concept and hope it becomes popular here as well.
