Sirloin Tip Roast
|Nelson: Trying new cuts of meat. This is a Sirloin Tip Roast that was pretty cheap. I wonder why it's so cheap?|
|Anyway, got my roasting rack out and seasoned the meat with garlic, rosemary, salt and pepper.|
|I threw some carrots in the bottom and roasted it. I don't have a thermometer, so I have to guess when it is done. I always try to go too rare rather than too well done. Looks like I was successful.|
|The lighting in my dining room is crap and too warm. It always makes meat look uncooked. Is this rare or uncooked? It looks uncooked, but it's actually rare.|
With the remaining drippings I made a mushroom gravy. Some roasted potatoes, and squash on rice round out this meal.
And the meat? It was good. The cut is really really lean,so it's easy to overcook and taste bad so maybe that's why it isn't that popular. I seasoned it with a lot of salt that made it really tasty. In face the gravy and the carrots that cooked in the drippings were both absolutely delicious. I cut up slices for my sandwiches during the week and it was great.
