Summerlicious at Azure

Restaurant: Azure Toronto

BiteMe @ICTorontoCentre: Are you looking for somewhere to go for #Summerlicious these next 2 weeks? We were invited for a sneak peek dinner at Azure and a fancy night's stay at Intercontinental Hotel the night before Summerlicious started! Though we were treated like royalty and everything was compensated, the thoughts of the food and service are of our own opinion. :)

This was the view from the room. I didn't know there were sharks on top of Ripley's Aquarium. And we were so close to the Skydome, that we heard the game winning horn sound before seeing the last strike out pitch on TV! A great location for tourists in Toronto.

We got some snacks when we checked in, and I immediately munched on the cookies. They were fresh and delicious! I didn't want to spoil my dinner, so I saved the fruit for later.
We were invited for pre-dinner cocktails. Unfortunately, we were supposed to meet by the pool patio, but because there was rain, it was moved inside. Still, we got to have some drinks and hors d'oeuvres before dinner. There was an apple walnut goat cheese on a cracker, smoked salmon, and a prosciutto wrap.
We were seated and we got to meet some other food bloggers and media personality. We felt like royalty because we're such small fry food bloggers, but were in the presence of "real" media haha. Well, people were impressed that we've been around for almost 10 years, and we surprised ourselves to be able to say that too!

Executive Chef Shawn Whalen and Chef de Cuisine Grace DiFede came out to talk about the menu. They try to source their ingredients locally and even grow herbs and some veggies on the roof! Right now, only herbs are in season, but later in the summer, there will more in-house grown veggies to serve!

There was a bread basket on the table. There's always the crispy flat bread alongside the traditional bread rolls.

This appetizer is Truffle Honey Fig and Proscuitto Tartine. The balsamic drizzle on this was really good and the figs were so sweet!
This is the Arugula and Compressed Watermelon. The watermelon was described as pickled. None of us chose this, so we didn't get to try it. Looks really pretty though!
This is the crab and sweet corn fritters. The crab was tasty and the corn balanced out the flavour. Crab appetizers are always so good!
The mains we got was the Ricotta and Spinach Agnolotti. This dish was okay, nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary. If you were vegetarian, it would be only dish you could get, but if you're not, try one of the other dishes!
This is the Dillion's Rye BBQ Glazed Duck Breast. This was delicious! The duck was juicy and not overcooked. There was the crispy skin on top that was really enjoyable. The peach and cucumber salsa was tasty on top of the duck.
For dessert, we tried the Chocolate S'mores Parfait. If you like sweet, this is the dessert to get. If you don't like sweet, it's still worthwhile to try, though choosing one of the other desserts would probably suit you better. The chocolate was really rich mousse, topped with marshmallow and graham cracker crumble.
The other dessert we tried was the Peaches 'N Cream Cheesecake. This was really good and we especially enjoyed the shortbread crust.
Finally, after a walk outside to walk off our dinner, we came back to our room to find these chocolate covered strawberries and a small bottle of Bailey's. We ate the strawberries right away - couldn't resist keeping it for breakfast the next day.

Speaking of breakfast, come back to see what we had from Azure for breakfast! You won't be disappointed!
