Nelson @torchystacos: After a late night working I went searching for a small dinner after eating so much BBQ at lunch. I wanted to try some Texmex type of food and instead happened upon Torchy's Tacos with a eye catching logo. The staff was really young and friendly and surprisingly playing some 80s classic rock. There were many creatively named tacos to choose from.
I decided to start with some chips and guacamole though. The tortilla chips were fried nicely with a good amount of salt making it extra tasty. I don't like cilantro much, but the guacamole had just the right amount (ie small) for my taste buds. The guac was smooth and creamy, and I really wonder how they manage to do that. I loved it and it was one of the best guacamole dips I've ever had!
I tried the Brushfire Taco with Jamaican Jerk Chicken and pineapple, grilled jalapenos, mango, sour cream and cilantro (which I skipped). It's served with Diablo hot sauce on a flour tortilla. As you can see, there were a lot of topping for this size of tortilla, which resulted in a messy eat....not that I'm complaining. There was a lot of chicken, but could have used a bit more mango and sour cream. The flavours of the ingredients were great, but what made it amazing was the Diablo hot sauce. I reminded me a little of buffalo sauce but better somehow. It had a nice spice to it.
Overall a great experience and if I'm ever back I would try more items off their menu. Too bad I was already so full.
