County Hall Arms (British Pub Food)
Nelson: Right on the River Thames near the London Eye, County Hall Arms is basically a tourist trap. But we were tired and didn't want to walk too far so we settled on this pub. They serve up typical English pub fare and we picked some popular items.
This is traditional English sausage & mash with gravy (9.50£). The mashed potatoes were in these weird cylinder shapes. They were a bit dry and not very good. The sausage was also a underwhelming.
|Steak pie with mash and gravy (9.75£). This one was decent, with good pastry and ok beef. The potatoes were once again no good.|
|Here is a look inside the pastry.|
This is the fish and chips with mushy peas (9.95£). Why are mush peas popular? They are so gross. The fish was baked and a bit dry. The chips were also dry.
Overall, the food was pretty bad here. Maybe because I had just come from France, but the difference in quality of food was incredible.
