Birthday Meal at Scaddabush

Restaurant: Mississauga Scaddabush

dre @SCADDABUSH: I loved this place so much, that I wanted to come here again for my birthday! This time, my parents and the kids came along, so Mike was able to try the fresh mozzarella, as he could share with my parents. They got the Buratta ($12.68), infused with honey and truffle cream, served with foccacia crostini. Mike said it was delicious! I tried a small bite, and it didn't taste like cheese (i.e. it wasn't stinky), but I don't see what the big deal was. Haha.
We also got some Calamari Fritti ($11.98). It wasn't anything special, but it was good. I didn't like the green aioli sauce, though. It was too sour and lemony for my liking.
We heard so much about the Charity Bread that I wanted to try it ($3.68). It reminded me of Jack Astor's deep pan garlic bread. It was really good, and Kristen really liked it and ate most of it.
I wanted to try the meatballs this time, so we got a large social sized portion of spaghetti and meatballs (~$28). I really liked the meatballs as they were very hearty. The sauce was pretty good too, and it was really comforting. The spaghetti texture was okay. I preferred the fettucine from the next dish.
Mike wanted to get the Pesto Pollo again (social size $31.70). I found the sauce very salty again, and much more noticeable next to the spaghetti and meatball sauce. The pasta was delicious, as mentioned before.
We ordered the Smoked Bacon and Egg Pizza ($15.76) - double-smoked bacon, freshly cracked egg, stracciatella, chilli oil, mozzarella, caramelized onions, chiles. This was amazing! The egg was cracked open on our table and the yolk spread around the pizza. The sweetness of the onions went really well with the saltiness of the bacon, and random bits of spiciness popped in my mouth. Great flavours!!
The free birthday dessert was the Chocolate Toffee Jar Cake ($6.25) that came with a sparkler. No singing though, except from my family. Inside the jar was chocolate ganache, homemade sponge toffee, vanilla whipped cream, candied walnuts and sea salt. It was good, though not my favourite dessert.
Mike really really wanted to try the Apple Ravioli ($6.81). It was with two raviolis, and vanilla ice cream. I liked the shape of the raviolis, but the dessert wasn't anything special compared to an enclosed apple pie.

We were so full from this meal, but it was so delicious and I'm glad I was able to come back and try more items!
