Smoque N' Bones Part 1 Apps
Nelson @SmoqueNBones: This small BBQ joint serves up BBQ and bourbon - oops - I mean barbeque n' bourbon. We had a sampler for two ($48.90) plus some a la carte items among the four of us. Their menu has an extensive number of sides and we were able to try quite a few of them starting with sweet potato waffle fries and buttermilk onion rings. I was expecting big things from the sweet potato waffle fries, but they weren't as good as I was expecting for some odd reason. On the other hand, I didn't expect much, but the buttermilk onion rings were by far the best side and were absolutely delicious. It had just the perfect amount of tasty batter and all of it was fried expertly.
This is a pic of the collard greens which oddly tasted like Chinese vegetables to me. It also came with onions. I don't like them much to begin with and this version, while different from most I've had (too mushy), was only ok.
The mac and cheese was pretty decent with bread crumbs (I think?) on top.
This is the coleslaw which looks kinda creamy and is described as creamy on the menu, but was more vinegary instead.
Stay tuned for the meats in the next post!
