East Side Mario's 25th Birthday Menu
dre @eastsidemarios: It's been awhile since we've been to East Side Mario's, so one Friday lunch, we decided to eat there. They were celebrating their 25th Anniversary, with some new items on the menu.
We started off with bread and Italian Wedding soup. The garlic bread was warm and very soft. The soup was good too. It wasn't too salty and had a good amount of meatballs and rice.
We got the Calamari Diavlo as an appetizer. The calamari was tasty, though a bit salty and very oily. They were a little soggy as it was immersed in the oil. The more I ate, the more unappetizing it got because of the pool of oil at the bottom of the pan.
Mike tried the Four-Meat Stromzoneh - a cross between Stromboli and a wrap. The dough was tasty. The filling with all the meat and cheese was on the salty side. Maybe because we had an appetizer, Mike could only eat one half of the sandwich.
I tried the Riso Italiano - grilled seasoned chicken breast and roasted Italian sausage served on rice simmered in tomato and herbs, caramelized onions, and garlic. There was a good portion of meat. The chicken was a little on the dry side, but the sausage was juicy. The rice was a little undercooked, but that could be the result of non-Asian rice. The sauce was flavourful and tasty.
