Nelson: How bad can Shawarma be? Looking for a quick meal, I stopped by Baboo and picked up a chicken shawarma on a pita ($4.99). First time I have ever seen the shawarma all cut up already in a heated bin and not a rotating spit. Fail. It tasted like boiled chicken, except without any flavour whatsoever. The ingredients that were included in the pita were uninspiring except for maybe the purple pickle. Not only that but it tasted like there was some grittiness/sand in the pita. Not sure the source, but I suspect vegetables that weren't washed well. And then to top it all off, it was messily constructed. Why is there so much variance with shawarma? Baboo fails on so many counts that I lost track.
