Astoria Shish Kebob House
Nelson: Seems like my go-to place in Mississauga for Greek food is Astoria Shish Kebob House. Consistently good food is probably the best reason for this.
The meal starts with a Greek salad. I don't know why, but when other restaurants try to do a Greek salad, it doesn't turn out as good as this one. What is the difference? I suspect it is the copious amount of great tasting fresh cheese that makes all the difference.
|This is the pork souvlaki (Asoria's award winner) (small portion is $16.49) described as tender pork marinated with their secret blend of spices. It may not look like much, but it is absolutely delicious. I think the difference is that fatty pork is used that lends more flavour than usual. I also like how they give a lot of tzatziki sauce.|
This is the chicken souvlaki on a pita ($10.49) served with french fries. Although it feels more like a lunch item, it still fills you up.
Good consistent quality food makes for a successful restaurant with regular patrons. I think they've nailed it for Greek food in Mississauga.
