Krispy Kreme Doughnut Holes
Nelson: Krispy Kreme isn't doing so well in Canada, and perhaps part of the reason is their doughnut holes, or as Canadians call them, Timbits. Maybe I'm biased, having eaten my share of Timbits, but this is the obvious comparison. Do they compare? In a word, no.
There are only two flavours, original and chocolate. The first bite tastes good, but then after one or two I find that I didn't want any more. With Timbits I always feel like I want more, even of the same flavour. I don't know exactly why, but Timbits are vastly superior. Maybe this helps explain why Krispy Kreme didn't take off in Canada....
...It also doesn't help that they don't do free fresh doughnuts anymore whenever the sign is lit. As a result I never want to step into the store despite driving past twice every single day.
