Nelson @ Harbourfront: It was such a nice day that it felt perfect for some beer on the patio. bar Milano is right at the end of the dock with a nice view so we took a load off and enjoyed the weather.
We were a bit hungry so got some snacks including this truffle fries with hand cut Yukon gold fries with shaved parmesan and truffle aioli ($9). The fries were cooked well and I could taste the truffle oil on top and in the mayo. The cheese on top was hard to eat served like this but at least it was high quality cheese.
This is the Calamaretti Fritti with baby squid lightly dusted and fried served with marinara and lemon aioli ($12). It was light and not too deeply fried or battered which is good. The lemon sauce was mayo with lemon flavouring and the marinara was standard as it often is with calamari.
I have since had a lot of this beer, but this was my first try as we shared a pitcher of Shocktop ($20.50). It is 5.2% alcohol and described as an unfiltered Belgian style wheat ale that is naturally cloudy with a light colour. Brewed with orange, lemon and lime peels and coariander. Subtle hops and a light taste render a very refreshing beer. I like it!
