Mochi in Nara

Restaurant: Japan

Nelson @ Nara: On the way to the temples and the park with free roaming deer, there was a store with a huge crowd around it. Turns out they were making fresh mochi. In the second picture, you can see the machine that forms the mochi at the pace of the operator via foot pedal. They pick it up expertly, coated it and place it in the tray to be sold. So efficient!

Turns out fresh mochi tastes much better than any packaged mochi! The sweet red bean paste tasted great inside of the mochi that had a clean taste and sticky texture. Who knew that fresh mochi would make such a big difference!
