The Best Burgers EVER at Kuma's Corner
dre in Chicago: Dara told me about this place, and I wasn't that interested at first, because it was out of the way and far from downtown. However, I didn't have any other places I really wanted to eat and since we had a car, it wasn't really an issue to make the trek to Kuma's Corner.
Oh man, I'm so glad we came here!
We arrived around 8pm, and was told the wait was going to be an hour to an hour and a half. We weren't too hungry yet and didn't really have anything else to do, so we waited. The wait was actually almost 90 minutes as we weren't seated until 9:20 or so.
The restaurant is a heavy metal bar, playing really loud music, and weird goth-like movies on the TV at the bar. As we saw food being served to the patrons we were super excited seeing the size of the burgers and the amount of sides they give! There were over twenty different types of burgers, and during our wait, we narrowed it down to 2-3 each.
The finalists - Doug chose High On Fire - Siracha Hot Chili Sauce, Prosciutto, Roasted Red Pepper, Grilled Pineapple, Sweet Chili. He got his burger medium rare and it came out quite red inside.
Mike chose Plague Bringer - Roasted Garlic Mayo, Tortilla Strips, House Made Hot Sauce, Fresh Garlic, Pepper Jack, Sliced Jalapenos. I had a tiny bite of his burger and cried for a bit because it was so spicy.
I had an easier time choosing a burger because I first filtered out the burgers that had cheese. I decided on the Megadeth - Chorizo and Red Potato Hash, Pico de Gallo, Cayenne Avocado Cream, Tortilla Strips. The potato hash was delicious! It was a little bit spicy, but after a tiny bit of Mike's super spicy burger, this was like water haha. I got chips instead of fries, which turned out to be the better choice as the boys' fries got cold and a bit soggy.
As you can see, we had a hard time putting the whole burger in our mouths because they were so large!! All the burgers are $13, which seems quite expensive for a burger, but it was definitely worth it! We are definitely inspired to make our own Kuma-version burgers now!
