Start of an 11-Day Cruise on MS Zuiderdam
dre @ Zuiderdam: I will be starting my cruise food pictures for the next couple of weeks. We went on an 11-day cruise to the Panama Canal on Holland America's MS Zuiderdam, so there are A LOT of food pictures. Holland America's food was quite impressive. The portions were on the smaller side, so that you could order more than one entrée and finish them all without feeling really sick afterwards.
This is our first dinner on board. Because there are so many dishes, I will simply list what they were and for some of them, make comments if something in particular stood out.
Crab Tower with Avocado Salsa
Penne with Crisp Pancetta served with Grilled Bell Pepper, Rosemary and Tomato. On my last cruise, I ordered a pasta at every dinner as an appetizer. I was planning to do the same, but their first pasta did not impress me, so I saved my stomach space for other things on subsequent meals.
Grilled Four Mushroom Crostini
Cream of Chicken and Artichoke Soup - most of the soups were ordered by Mike. I didn't realized how much he loved soup until this trip.
Heart of Romaine Lettuce Nicoise
Fillet of Vobia with Lobster Dumplings - I tried to be healthier on the first night, but ordering fish. The fish was tough, and I didn't even finish it. The dumpling was really good, too bad there was only one.
Bronx-style Veal Chop - very fatty, but tender.
Prime Rib of Beef
Red Velvet Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream - After trying this slice, I concluded that I am not a super fan of red velvet cake.
Viennese Apple Strudel - Guess who ordered the apple dessert?
Passion Fruit Mousse Torte with No Sugar - There were a lot of "no sugar" options on the menu. I didn't try any of them.
