Silver Carriage Restaurant
Nelson @ 茶餐廳: In Hong Kong they have this cultural custom called afternoon tea often served at a Cha Chaan Teng (茶餐廳in Chinese). Tea was introduced by the British, but it has been adopted by the Chinese and made their own. There are specific restaurants that serve this type of food, and although not as prevalent as Hong Kong, they can be found in Toronto as well. Personally I'm not used to this practice, but sometimes Kitty craves this - see especially craves the milk tea. So although it is not pictured, rest assured we ordered the milk tea. To go with it, I tried the Hong Kong style Pineapple french toast which was surprisingly good. I could taste the butter and I'm not sure how they got the outside so crispy, but I'm guessing it has something to do with frying. Pineapple was a little disappointing, but at $3.50 with a drink nothing to complain about. Kitty tried the fish fillet with potato salad. The salad was pretty typical, but still creamy enough to be good and the fish was ok as well. Not bad for a snack!
