Great Burger Kitchen
Nelson @ St. Lawrence Market: We were looking for a meal before hitting up Bier Markt, and this seemed like as good of a place as any. We noticed that this burger joint had beer on tap, so that was a definite bonus. They advertise that their food is locally sourced, naturally raise and free range. Not sure if that makes it better tasting, but probably reflects in the price a little bit, even though overall it is very reasonably priced. Not fast food cheap, but not restaurant expensive either.
They sell a lot of poutines with the burgers, and we gladly partook. Kitty and I shared the Mexican Poutine, with tomato salsa, cheddar, guacamole and sour cream. Not surprisingly this reminded me a lot of nachos, not that that is a bad thing, because their fries were tasty.
For burger, I had the Voodoo burger, tomato salsa, spicy mayo, guacamole, balsamic onion and lettuce. Their are a lot of choices for toppings and sauces, but I stuck with the basics on this one. Pretty tasty burger overall.
Richard and Mike also ordered poutines, which I tried. The first is a Mushroom Swiss (sauteed mushrooms, swiss cheese and gravy), the last one is an Ontario Poutine (bacon, onion, cheddar and gravy). Interesting that they use so much shredded cheese instead of cheese curds, which perhaps is not ideal. But overall since the fries are good, really tasty dishes.
I would come back here if I were in the area. It feels very "Canadian".
