Nelson @ Square One: Did you know New Year's is one of the busiest days for restaurants? We ate this meal at almost 10PM, so now I know.
This is a steakhouse and as I usually find, they pay attention to the bread being served and this place was pretty decent as well. I tried their Chophouse salad, and it is tomato,onion, lettuce in a balsamic vinaigrette, topped with blue cheese. I thought this was really inventive and the taste work out well - if you like blue cheese. The blue cheese has a strong flavour, but I like it in the salad, so good job to provide something a little more unique and still taste good.
The regular garden salad is next, absolutely smothered in sauce. Not so happy about that, but at least there are croutons. Kitty tried the Filet Mignon (their most tender steak wrapped with apple-smoked bacon), and it was the best cut of the meat of the night. Kitty orders this all the time, and I think I'm getting the taste for it over other cuts of meats.
I tried the Chicago-Cut Striploin (10 oz, 2 inch thick steak, brushed with butter and served with Cabernet roasted garlic jus and crisp onion straws. This was also good and they also brought it out rare as I had ordered it. Just when compared with the filet, there is more tendons. At least there is a bit more fat to compensate. The fries strangely enough had a bit of a smokey flavour to them, which was a nice change from the usual.
I guess they try to bring something a little more unique to their menu which is appreciated. The prices aren't crazy expensive either, so I might try this place again.
