Seventh Stop: Hapa Izakaya

Nelson @ Yaletown: Yes, that's right back-to-back Izakayas. I wanted to visit the area, so we headed there with Keith, Kelly and Loretta. This one is a fusion place in a very nice setting but seemed a little pretentious. Also I had been told they have good looking wait staff, but I didn't agree; women told me this fact, so maybe they have good looking waiters instead. At this point I was pretty full, but we did order two more items.

Spicy Salmon Yukke: Minced wild salmon marinated w/ yukke sauce, negi, serrano chile and garlic chips and wonton crisp. It's kinda like an Asian nacho. This was decent, although the portion was a little small, especially sharing with so many other people.

Chan Chan Yaki: seared wild spring salmon fillet, mushrooms, miso and negi in a hot stone bowl. We kinda ordered it because we had a Chan at our table, but it happened to taste good. I'm not sure I can taste the difference between wild salmon and farmed when it's cooked, as I find it's more obvious when it is served raw.

The other significant thing about that night was seeing Steve Nash chilling on a patio and Grace Park. Seeing Steve Nash was awesome, but I didn't interrupt him or anything even though we walked by within 5 feet of him!

This is the end of my food crawl and I wished I had more stomach to try more things. It requires so much discipline to only try a little bit at each stop, but it was such a fun way to spend a day.
