Matt & Nadine Wedding
Nelson @ Pitt Meadows: This is on the out, out, outside of Vancouver, but this golf course is a really beautiful place. I like the idea that the appetizers all come out on one plate, so you can see the selection at a glance, and not have to hunt down each waiter as they come (as I'm known to do). I tried the shrimp and the brie/walnut bruschetta, which were both good, but the pancetta asparagus didn't taste quite right, perhaps because of the mushiness of the meat where I expect it to be drier.
This wedding was buffet style and they had quite a selection of food. I jumped the line to take pictures of some of the items further along, so the first picture is of the chicken, cheese pasta, vegetables (not overcooked, which is hard to do in a buffet), scalloped potatoes, white and red (salmon) fish with shrimp, and roast beef. Now moving to the front of the line, there was a selection of cold seafood. Of note was the maple smoked salmon which tasted really really good and not something I commonly have. Must be a BC thing. Otherwise the other apps include potato salad, devilled eggs, roast vegetables, deli meats, salad with blue cheese and nuts (which I appreciated). I tried to try a bit everything as evidenced by my heaping plate, but you can tell what the best items were based on the second helping - maple smoked salmon (lower right), smoked white fish, roast beef and the salad. Yum!
Dessert included pies, a variety of cakes, a nice fruit platter (which was demolished), various pastries and custard. The wedding cake was a tower of cupcakes topped with some cake they took home. And one of the best parts was the nice bar they had going, but no pictures of that :)
