Trying Alpaca For The First Time

dre in Peru: We went to a restaurant in the Colca Canyon area that had a set lunch menu for $5 CDN. We started off with soup - Mike had a vegetable soup, and I had the chicken. Both broths looked similar, but tasted completely different. The vegetable soup had more spices, and the chicken one was blander.

I ordered the alpaca steak. I don't know if alpaca is supposed to be cooked well done, but I think it's similar to chicken or pork, so it should be. This alpaca was too dry.

Mike got something safer, chicken breast. His meat was juicy.

We both got a quinoa cake for dessert. The icing topping was dulce de leche.
