Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu
Nelson @ Hurontario & Dundas: Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu is a Korean place that serves (almost exclusively) inexpensive Tofu stews. And when I say inexpensive, I mean $7 an order! First come the appetizers, a kimchi, a kimchi flavoured root vegetable?, sprouts and these strong tastes seeds, not sure what they are called.
I had to order the restaurant's namesake, the Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu. Yes they named their restaurant after this dish. It comes out in a piping hot pot full of ingredients. Later in the meal I had the sense to lift some of the ingredients out to see what was inside. Mine was spicy (you can request your desired level of spiciness) and although there are quite a few ingredients, there isn't a lot of food, but what was there is tasty. It is served with some purple rice, and later in the meal they bring out the pot the rice was baked in, filled with water to soften it. With the leftover soup from the stew, it's like a whole bonus meal!
Kitty had the Stone pot bibimbab. I only had a little, but once again I think the portion was on the smaller side. Overall this place is really good value, as long as you are not too hungry and in the mood for some authentic Korean stew. Perfect for a cold winter day!
