New Thai Restaurant Near Work

Restaurant: Thai_One_On Toronto

dre @ Ellesmere & Bellamy: My team at work went way over budget the last time we went out for lunch, so this time, we chose Asian food, which is always much cheaper than your Jack Astor's or Milestones. There was a new Thai restaurant that opened really close to work, so we decided to try it. We ordered different plates and shared everything - I like that way much better! :)

If you ordered items on the lunch menu, it comes with a salad and appetizer with the combo. We had a couple mango salads, spring rolls, and samosas to share.

Green Mango Salad - Thai favourite with fresh mango, sweet peppers, coriander, onions & peanuts with a chili dressing.

Thai Spring Rolls - crispy rolls stuffed with cabbage, carrot, oyster mushroom & soya noodle served with Thai chili plum sauce. These were the best.

Samosa - Malay pastries stuffed with vegetables & cheese served with Thai spicy plum sauce. I didn't like this one as much as I could taste the cheese.

Thai One On Assorted Platter - 2 skewers of shrimp satay, spring rolls, calamari, crispy tofu, shrimp chips. More spring rolls! :)

Pineapple Fried Rice - with chicken, shrimp, cashew, egg & pineapple. This dish was too ketchupy.

Malay Curry Beef - Coconut curry beef with onion, potatoes, eggplant & coriander. This was really spicy, and I really liked it.

Thai Mango Tofu - Tofu served with fresh mango slices & sweet peppers. This was okay.

Green Curry Chicken - A popular green curry with chicken, coconut milk, fresh basil & vegetables. This one was pretty good as well.

Pad Thai - Thai rice noodles stir fried & tossed with chicken, shrimp, piquant taramind sauce, egg & tofu, green onion, lemon & roasted peanuts. Again, they used the same ketchupy sauce and it wasn't very good.

We were all extremely stuffed after this meal. I am excited to try this place again, but avoid their pad thai and pineapple fried rice!
