Street Food in Midtown

Restaurant: Halal_Guys NYC

dre in NYC: One of the things I also wanted to try in NYC was street food. I was told that the Halal Guys on 53rd and 6th were the best! They even had a website! Apparently, there are many imposters that take up that corner, but the real guys wear yellow shirts and only open from 7:30pm to 4:00am.

We got to the corner around 7:50pm and there was already a line up down the street. The process was pretty fast, so we got to the front quickly. Mike and I shared the combo platter which included chicken, lamb, rice, pita, salad, hot Sauce, white Sauce, BBQ Sauce. The best part of the dish was the sauce and the hot sauce was extremely hot. Good thing we mixed with this mystery white sauce to tone down the spice. Best $6 spent on dinner!

  • Was this better than the time we had it in Soho?

  • Yes! Because 1) the portion was bigger for almost the same price. 2) we weren't even that hungry, but the food was still delicious!
