Back At The Bistro

dre @ Don Minaker and Ebenezer: The Bistro is so convenient when we want to eat out but not go far. I notice that they change their menu frequently and some things I would not find again the next time I went. Here are several dishes that we've had recently:

Cajun Rice Bowl - Shrimp, scallops, diced tomato, green pepper & red onion finished in a Cajun Tomato Sauce. This dish was plain and had no Cajun-ness to it. I didn't taste any spice at all. The rice was a little hard as well. I wouldn't get this dish again.

6oz Steak Sandwich - Roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, mushrooms & jack cheese. Mike got this and he said it was delicious! I tried a bite and it was pretty juicy. The only bad thing about it was the steak had a lot of fat that Mike cut out. He got this sandwich 2 more times after this.

Riverstone Club House - Grilled chicken breast, tomato, back bacon, onion sprouts & lettuce. This is a favourite. I got this for myself and I love the fact that they use peameal bacon. The sandwich is huge and very filling!

Spicy Chicken Caesar Wrap - Padano cheese, creamy Caesar dressing. This chicken wrap has a nice spicy kick to it. The onion rings are also very delicious. We would get this one again.

Crispy Ribs - Our slow roasted ribs fast fried & tossed in tangy BBQ sauce. I didn't see or taste any "crispyness" in this appetizer. Ribs are ribs. They were good and generic, but I wouldn't necessarily order them again.

Riverstone Salad - Boston Bibb lettuce, avocado, baby shrimp & orange segments in our creamy house dressing. The sauce of this salad was tasty, but the shrimps were gross. They were tiny and I think they were frozen. I wouldn't get this salad again.

Open-Faced Shrimp Sandwich - I should have remembered that the shrimps were gross. They used the same shrimps and sauce on this sandwich and it was soggy. I enjoyed the avocados though. I wouldn't get this again.

I think they are using bay shrimp, which aren't very good.

Overall, they look like appetizing dishes. How many times have you gone there?
