Going to a Chinese Restaurant on Chinese New Years Eve

Restaurant: Da_Fu_Seafood_Cuisine Toronto

dre @ Steeles and Middlefield: On Chinese New Years Eve, my family went to this restaurant in Scarborough. Even though we made a reservation for 7:30, we weren't seated until 8:20. It was packed, and I'm quite sure that some fire codes were broken. There wasn't even enough chairs and a couple of us had to stand for a bit while the waiters scrambled to get chairs.

Now if you ever eat with my family, you have to be prepared. We are quite savagely, and so once the food is put on the table, 10 pairs of chopsticks go at it. Fortunately, my younger cousins wanted the red pocket from me, so they put down their chopsticks until Mike and I got our food (after I threatened them haha).

The first dish was all right. Don't know how wrong you can mess up BBQ items. However, all the other dishes were completely tasteless! The shrimp, the rice and noodles were tasteless! The chicken and lobster was all right, not the best. No one really touched the mushroom dish and we gave it to the parents.

I don't think we're ever going to come back here and I don't think we'll ever go out for dinner on New Years Eve!

  • So was this better or worse than the place we went that time where everything tasted like canned ham?

  • well, this place's presentation looks nicer, but taste is comparably bad...

  • Well, the pictures don't look too bad. Even the deep fried stuff wasn't good?

I think it's going to be hard to adjust to being the one giving out red pockets instead of received them.

  • no.... even the sweet and sour pork was tasteless!
