Mel's ex-Favourite

Restaurant: Kitchener_Waterloo Mels_Diner

Nelson @ Mel's Diner Waterloo: This is the place to go for breakfast after a hard night of drinking...or it used to be when I was in University. They have totally changed their menu and now it is much more expensive. I still remember the Mel's favourite for $2 or $3 bucks.

Instead, I tried to recreate something similar by ordering the "3 Farm Fresh Eggs". Doesn't have the same ring to it, now does it? I think it should be called Mel's ex-Favourite. It is served with Texas toast, and home fries, your choice of bacon, ham, sausage, fried tomatoes or honey baked beans for $6.99. Ouch. I remember it was a mixed bag what type of home fries you would get. Sometimes they would be seasoned, but this time they were plain and unappetizing. The sausage tasted soapy and the egg was a little overcooked. Boo.

Kitty had the Eggs Benedict with ham, which I didn't try, but I may order that next time.

Oh, how I long for the days of Mel's Favourite.
