Tim & Julie's Wedding at Shangri-la
Restaurant: Markham Shangri-La
Nelson @ Shangri-la: Kitty and I had considered Shangri-la - a Markham banquet hall with Chinese food - since they took care of a lot of details for you. Kitty told me that when the couple went in for the tasting they weren't that impressed with the food, but when I ate it, I thought it was pretty good.
Roast Suckling Pig Slice & Jelly Fish: this was just the skin and very little meat. Felt so fattening!
Deep Fried Stuffed Crab Claw: Good as usual, came out nice and hot.
Sauteed Fresh Prawn & Scallop with Pine Nut & Seasonal Vegetables: We had one less person at our table and I remember eating lot's of snow peas.
Superior Shark Fin Soup: The shark fin had this huge thing in it....I think it was shark fin! Apparantly it's fresh shark fin instead of the more expensive dried stuff. I felt bad eating this.
Braised Sliced Abalone with Seasonal Vegetables: I actually didn't get a photograph of this, because I was walking around when this came to the table, but I did see the vegetarian version of this dish and snapped a picture. I'm not sure what it is (mushroom?), but it looked interesting.
Roasted Crisp Chicken: Deep Fried!
Steamed Seasonal Whole Fish with Soya Sauce: Fish were a little small, but tasted pretty good.
Baked Lobsters with Ginger & Scallion: I was worried how this dish would turn out because usually lobster is stir fried and for our wedding we also have baked lobster. The meat was drier, but not in a bad way and was firm. Just a flavourful as well, so baked lobster is just as good as lobster stir fried.
Sahngri-La Fried Rice & Braised E-Fu Noodles with Conpoy & Abalone Slices & Enoki Mushrooms: I didn't see any abalone slices, so maybe they got ripped off here. Both tasted pretty good, but I was pretty full at this point having eaten a lot of the "tenth" person's food.
Sweetened Red Bean Soup with Lotus Seed & Fancy Chinese Petit Fours: Nothing out of the oridinary here.
A finally, the wedding cake adorned with fresh flowers and bling.
Tim is not a very picky eater and even he said the food wasn't that good during the tasting, so I was expecting not so good food, but in my opinion I thought it was pretty good!

You definitely have a like/dislike relationship with sharks as you feel bad but still drink the soup lol
Is that the end of your Vancouver pics?

Yeah, some of the Vancouver meals were eaten at home and I didn't pictures of that.
