Fast Food on the Road
Restaurant: In-N-Out Santa_Maria Visalia
dre: Knowing that In-N-Out was something I wanted to try on this trip, we saved it for the road. In Visalia (Aaron Hill's home town!), we stopped for lunch. We didn't really know how to order, so we got a regular burger and an animal style burger, not knowing the animal style was just a different patty and sauce for the same price.
Even at 2:00pm, the place was packed. As I was waiting for the food, I overheard conversation from the table next to me. A biker with tattoos everywhere was telling a frail grandpa (presumably his father), "This place, no matter what time it is, always has a lot of people. This is actually the first time I've gotten a seat! The other day, the line up was out the door!". Wow!
In Santa Maria, we went to In-N-Out for lunch as well (this was the lunch that trumped the healthier Panera Bread). I tried the protein style burger and Mike had the animal style cheeseburger.
I mean, the burgers are pretty dinky, but I like how it's made from scratch rather than processed (so I think), and since we've gotten older, our stomachs have shrunk anyway. Look, we even shared 1 order of fries and we were full! Can't take the grease like we used to!
