Homemade Pulled Pork

Restaurant: none

dre: My coworker Cassandra had inspired me to make my own pulled pork after raving about how easy it was in a slow cooker. I found a recipe from my Slow Cooker Recipe Book that I got with my slow cooker and was surprised to see how easy it really was. I think anything in a slow cooker is really easy. All I did was throw a pork shoulder (bone in), marinated it with root beer, and slow cook it for 8 hours. Afterwards, I mixed in BBQ sauce, onions, and other spices, pulled the pork apart, taking out the bone and served on buns!

I can taste the root beer in the pork, so I don't think I'll try this recipe again, as I'm not a big fan of root beer.

  • I love root beer and I love pork. So I think I would like this. Is this the same as the one you made when people came over for the opening ceremonies?

  • No, I used a different recipe for that one. You should definitely get a slow cooker... very very easy!

  • I am proud to be named in a foodie's blog. we'll have to rock-paper-scissors for which one of us gets to make this for a team event!
