Kintaro
Nelson @ Denman Street, Vancouver: This is a pretty famous Ramen place in Vancouver that always has lineups to get into their tiny restaurant. Inside, you can watch as the two masters make the handmade Ramen hot and fresh. It's a great atmosphere to enjoy a bowl of Ramen. You can order the soup base from rich, medium and light and then the pork itself fat or lean.
We ordered a Shoyu Ramen with ingredients bean sprout, menma, green onion and BBQ pork. The Ramen is in their special soy sauce soup with pork-bone stock and they describe it as well-balanced flavour with noodle.
The next one is a Miso Ramen with the ingredients bean sprout, menma, grenn onion corn and BBQ pork. Described as Kintaro's BEST! Ramen noodle in soup flavoured with a blend of soy bean pastes from four different Japanese regions and twelve spices.
It think we both ordered medium and lean, because we were not brave enough to order the fat and rich. The two we ordered tasted different; the miso was a little saltier with a stronger taste while the soy sauce lighter and better balanced. I thoroughly enjoyed this $16 dollar late afternoon meal after biking through Stanley park in the morning, but was a little hungry afterward...maybe I should have ordered the fat.
