Legendary Cake

Restaurant: none

Nelson @ Chris': It Martin's going away and Chris had a gathering. Anne bought a huge cake and brought it up. I'm not sure what it is called, but it has layers of flaky pastry with cheese/cream filling and strawberries. I really like this type of dessert, but I don't even know the name!

Someone also did a pear flambee. It was difficult to capture the flame from the burning alcohol, but after many attempts I got a picture. Unfortunately I didn't stick around to taste it.

  • I think it's a Napolitan? http://biteme.photoquickies.com/index.php?showimage=133

    Does that look similar?

    I love puff pastry desserts.

  • Its called exfolia. You have to go to a good Italian bakery to get it. They don't make them all the time and you have to order it. I went to La Sem but I've had better. Try La Rose on Royal York to see if they make it.

  • Have you tried it from La Rose? I go there all the time, because my house is almost right beside it. I often walk there in summer:)
